PGA CAtalunya Resort´s new short game academy has received lavish praise from both players and European Tour officials at this week’s Qualifying School Final.
The impressive new short game academy and upgraded driving range opened just last month and has provided players at this week’s event with the perfect set up to fine tune every aspect of their game. Winner David Dixon, who shot a total of 21-under-par for his six rounds, said: “The driving range is excellent and the short game practice area is as good, if not better, than any other venue on The European Tour.”

How long have you worked at PGA Catalunya Resort?
I joined PGA Catalunya in September 2009, shortly after it hosted the Spanish Open.
How has it changed since then?
It has changed a lot since I first joined. At that stage, there were two great courses and a hotel. Today, we’ve got all the ingredients to becoming a major resort.
PGA Catalunya Resort to host a qualifying competition for the spectacular Long Drive Championship, for the first time in Spain
The World Long Drive Championship, with professional, men’s amateur, and women’s amateur categories, will be held on 30 June and 1 July at the PGA Catalunya Resort driving range.
The winner in the professional category will go forward to the world final, due to take place this coming October in Mesquite, Nevada.

PGA Catalunya Resort hosted Spanish footballing greats during the Nacex Golf and Paddle Challenge 2012, which saw former FC Barcelona and Real Madrid players come together for a good cause.
Just a couple of days before the iconic El Clásico football match on April 21, 2012, this year’s charity event took place at Spain’s No.1 golf course, which saw Spanish football veterans, including Real Madrid’s Bernd Schuster and FC Barcelona’s Miguel Àngel Nadal, go head-to-head in a Stableford match-play tournament.
